Sprint plans fail in the first week when they were sized to hope rather than capacity. This AI sprint planning template installs one employee, the Sprint Planner, that reads the backlog files in a folder you grant and turns them into a plan, then keeps your daily task list in priority order. It suits small teams and solo builders who plan from files and notes. For planning your own day instead, see the day planner.
Biilda is a free desktop app for Windows and macOS: describe what you want in chat and it builds AI employees (its word for an AI agent with a job), skills and scheduled tasks.
What this template does
Sprint Planner reads the backlog file(s) in a folder you grant it and turns them into a sprint plan: what fits this sprint, what carries over, and a clear sprint goal — sized to your team's actual capacity, not wishful thinking.
Every Monday at 9:00 it drafts the sprint plan as a file in the same folder, flagging anything over-committed before the sprint starts rather than mid-week. Every morning at 8:30 it re-ranks today's task list file so the most important thing is always at the top.
It never invents scope or changes priorities on its own between runs — it plans from what's actually written in your backlog and notes.
How does AI sprint planning work from a backlog?
Using the Sprint planning skill, the Sprint Planner builds a sized, realistic plan: what fits this sprint, what carries over from the last one, and a single goal. It sizes to your team's capacity, stated by you or estimated, and flags over-commitment before the sprint starts rather than mid-week. The plan is written as a file in the same folder.
Each morning at 8:30 a second task re-ranks today's task list file with the Task prioritization skill. The daily default is the urgent/important method, with tie-breaking rules whenever two items are equal. Across a week that is a plan on Monday morning and a freshly ordered list each day. Everything in the plan comes from your own backlog, and nothing is invented.
What do you need to set it up?
No connectors. A folder with your backlog and task list files.
- Download Biilda and open it.
- Open Templates and find Sprint Planner.
- Add it in one click.
- Grant the folder holding your backlog with your computer's own folder picker.
- Review what was installed, then switch on the employee and the tasks. They start off.
Nothing is charged for the download, and there is no subscription. Credits start at $20 and each task is billed for what it uses; the Monday plan runs on Balanced and the daily ranking on Economy (pricing).
What can you change?
Capacity is the number that matters, so tell the planner your real one. The Task prioritization skill also knows RICE and MoSCoW, and you can ask for one of those when the daily list is really a release backlog. Edit the Sprint planning skill so the goal line follows your team's format. The Weekly sprint plan can move to Friday afternoon if you plan ahead, and each task has its own tier.
What does it not do?
It does not read from Jira, Linear or any tracker, and it updates none. It will not change priorities between runs on its own, and it cannot know about work that is not written in your files. It plans from the page, not from the room. Scheduled tasks run only while Biilda is running.
