By 9:00 each morning you can have a short briefing waiting: today's meetings, who is in them, and the overnight emails that actually need you. This AI morning briefing template installs one employee, Daily Digest, that reads your Gmail and Google Calendar to produce it, then returns at 17:00 with an evening wrap-up.
It is for anyone who starts the day skimming an inbox and a calendar. Biilda is a free desktop app for Windows and macOS; you describe what you want in chat and it builds AI employees (its word for an AI agent with a job), skills and scheduled tasks.
What this template does
Daily Digest reads your Gmail and Google Calendar and gives you two short, skimmable briefings a day so nothing slips.
Every morning at 9:00 it walks through today: each meeting with who is attending and what to prepare, plus the emails that arrived overnight that actually need you — direct asks, deadlines, and replies from real people, with newsletters and automated noise set aside.
Every evening at 17:00 it recaps what happened today and previews tomorrow — the meetings on the calendar and what to line up — so you finish the day already set for the next one.
It only reads and reports. It never sends email or changes your calendar on your behalf, so you can trust it to run quietly in the background.
What is in the morning briefing and the evening wrap-up?
The 9:00 Morning brief covers each meeting with who is attending and what to prepare, using the Meeting prep skill. After that come the emails that arrived overnight and need you. The Email triage skill defines those as direct asks, deadlines and replies from real people, with newsletters and automated mail set aside.
The 17:00 Evening wrap-up recaps the day and previews tomorrow's meetings and what to line up, so you finish already set for the next morning. It is one brief that joins mail and calendar rather than two summaries. Drafting replies is a different job, covered in the Gmail assistant use case; this template deliberately does not do it.
What do you need to set it up?
Gmail and Google Calendar, both of which can be connected today.
- Download Biilda and open it.
- Open Templates and find Daily Digest.
- Add it in one click.
- Connect Gmail and Google Calendar from Connectors.
- Review what was installed, then switch on the employee and its two tasks. They start off.
Biilda downloads free of charge and has no subscription. You buy credits from $20 and each briefing costs what it uses; both run on Balanced (pricing).
What can you change?
Who counts as important is the useful edit: tell the Email triage skill that a named client or your manager always matters. Timing comes next, with the Morning brief moved to when you sit down, say 7:30, and the Evening wrap-up to when you close the laptop. On cost, either briefing can drop to Economy, and leaving the evening task off skips it entirely.
What does it not do?
It reads and reports, nothing more. It does not reply to email, archive anything, accept invitations or edit your calendar. Newsletters are set aside rather than summarised. Scheduled tasks run only while Biilda is running, so a briefing is not produced if Biilda is quit.
