Backups, restores and automatic updates

Biilda is built so a mistake is never permanent. Your setup is snapshotted automatically, and updates install themselves without touching what you built.

Backups

Every change Biilda makes to your setup is saved as a snapshot first. The Backups tab lists them, newest first.

  1. Open Backups.
  2. Find the version you want. The latest one carries a current badge.
  3. Click Restore.
  4. Confirm in the Restore this version window. It warns: "Restore your app to this version? Changes made since this backup will be overwritten."

Restoring is always your choice. Biilda never rolls back silently. If you have no snapshots yet, the tab says "No backups yet."

Backups cover your setup and configuration. Files in folders you granted have their own safety net: anything overwritten or deleted is saved first and can be restored from Folders. See Approvals and permissions.

When something breaks

A broken custom build does not take the whole app down. The rest of Biilda, including Chat, keeps working, so you can ask Chat to fix it. If it cannot, restore a known-good version from Backups. The Logs tab records what happened.

Automatic updates

Biilda keeps itself up to date.

  • It downloads new versions in the background.
  • It installs them at a safe idle moment, or after four hours at the latest.
  • Before installing, it lets running work finish or checkpoint. A chat reply that is stopped for an update picks up again after the restart.
  • Settings, in the "This install" panel, shows the version and the current update status.

You also get buttons there: Check for updates, and Restart and update now when one is ready.

An update replaces the app and leaves what you built and your data in place. If the app does not come up healthy after an update, it asks you whether to roll back or let the AI fix it. It does not roll back silently.

FAQ

Can I turn off automatic updates?

No. Biilda updates automatically so the app stays compatible. You can pick the moment yourself by clicking Restart and update now.

Will an update erase my employees and tasks?

No. They live separately from the app, so an update leaves them alone.

Where do I see what version I have?

In Settings, under "This install".
