Getting Started With Biilda: Your First 30 Minutes

By Biilda Team · · 5 min read

The first half hour with any new tool decides whether you keep using it. This plan is designed to get you from download to a working AI employee quickly, without overspending or risking anything you care about. Follow it in order, and stop whenever you like.

What do you need before you start?

Not much. Biilda is free to download for Windows and macOS, and the installer handles everything it needs, with no setup and no dependencies. You do not need a credit card to start.

It helps to decide one small, repetitive job you would like off your plate. A weekly summary, a batch of follow-up drafts or a research brief all work well. Having a real task in mind makes everything below more useful.

Minutes 0 to 5: How do you install it?

  1. Go to the download page on biilda.com.
  2. On Windows, click Download for Windows (it opens the Microsoft Store listing — click Install). On a Mac, download the installer for your Mac and run it. The page detects your operating system.
  3. Open Biilda.

That is the whole setup. Once it is open, you will land in a chat, which is where you do most of your building.

Minutes 5 to 10: How do you create your first AI employee?

In the chat, describe the employee you want in plain English. Be specific about the role and the result.

A good first request looks like this: "Create an employee who researches one topic I choose each week and writes a short summary with the key points at the top."

Biilda builds it and shows you the steps in plain English. Nothing goes live before it is tested, every change is snapshotted, and you can stop at any time. When it is ready, review what it built and approve it.

Minutes 10 to 15: How do you run your first task?

Ask the employee to do the job right now. Running it on demand is the best way to learn what it does.

Watch the play-by-play as it works. Then read the result critically:

  • Is it what you asked for?
  • Is anything missing or off?
  • Would you send this, or act on it, as is?

If something is off, tell Biilda what to change, in the same plain language. Repeat once or twice. This is the core loop of working with AI employees.

Minutes 15 to 20: Why set a spend cap now?

Before you do anything else, look at your balance and your monthly spend cap. Biilda uses prepaid credits at 1 credit = $0.01, and you can never spend more than you have added. The monthly cap is $100 a month by default. To raise or lower it, open Settings, then Spending, and enter a figure in Monthly spend cap (USD). It counts everything your account spends in a calendar month, and when it is reached the work pauses rather than fails.

If you have not bought credits yet, the smallest pack is $20. You can watch costs add up turn by turn in the chat, so you learn what your tasks actually cost. The full picture is in how pay-as-you-go AI pricing works.

Minutes 20 to 25: What about skills?

Now make the employee better. Ask Biilda to add a skill that fits the job, such as research, analysis or copywriting. A skill is a reusable ability that helps the employee perform like a specialist.

Run the task again and compare the result with the first one. The difference is usually the clearest demonstration of why skills matter. The post on what AI skills are goes deeper.

Minutes 25 to 30: How do you schedule it?

If you like what the task produces, put it on a schedule: hourly, daily or weekly. Tasks run in the background, even when the window is closed or your screen is locked.

Pick a frequency that matches how you use the result. A weekly report should run weekly, not daily. You can see scheduled tasks on a calendar and run any of them on demand whenever you want.

Keep approvals on for anything that reaches other people. Risky actions wait for your sign-off before they run.

What should you do after the first 30 minutes?

Do not build everything at once. Over the next week:

  1. Watch the first scheduled runs. Read each result.
  2. Tighten the instructions wherever the output drifts.
  3. Add one more employee or task only when the first is steady.
  4. Try one connector. Ask Biilda to connect a tool such as Gmail or Slack, following the guided setup.
  5. Try a ready-made setup. If you want a head start, install a department or a single employee, skill or task.

What if something goes wrong?

Every change Biilda makes is snapshotted, so you can roll back in one click. If a task fails, you get a plain explanation and one click to retry. You can stop anything mid-task.

That safety net is why it is fine to experiment in your first half hour. You cannot easily break things you cannot undo.

Where can you learn more?

The screenshots page shows every screen of the app. The features page lists everything the app can do.

What are good first requests to try?

If you are not sure what to ask for, borrow one of these and adjust it to your business:

  • "Create an employee who summarizes my week every Friday afternoon."
  • "Create an employee who researches one topic I name and writes a one-page brief."
  • "Create a task that drafts follow-up messages for me to review."

Notice that each one names a role, a result and a rhythm. That is the pattern that gets good output on the first try.

The summary

In thirty minutes you can install Biilda, create an AI employee, run a task, set a spend cap, add a skill and put the task on a schedule. Keep it small, review early results and build from there. Your first step is one click away: download Biilda for free.
