Lindy alternatives for small business (2026)
Updated October 5, 2026 · 5 min read
Lindy is a good fit if you want a hosted AI teammate that works in Slack, iMessage and email on a per-seat plan. If you want something you run on your own computer, that you pay for by usage, or that puts you in charge of what gets built, there are alternatives: Zapier Agents for a hosted rule-and-agent mix, Relevance AI for larger agent builds, n8n for builders, and Biilda for a desktop app you talk to.

The short answer
If you are looking for a Lindy alternative, start with what you want to change. Want the AI on your own computer instead of a hosted service? Want to pay by usage rather than per seat? Want more say over what gets built? Those point to different tools.
Here are five options for small businesses: Lindy itself, Zapier Agents, n8n, Relevance AI and Biilda. Biilda is ours, so read its entry knowing that, and note the trade-offs we list. Facts about the others come from their own pages, checked on 2026-10-05.
Five options at a glance
Lindy
What it is for: an AI teammate that works in Slack, iMessage, email and a browser, with 40+ skills and a no-code setup. Pricing model: per user per month with credits. When checked, its Team plan was priced by credit tier: $29.99 (3k credits), $99.99 (15k), $199.99 (35k), plus a Free tier and custom Enterprise. Credits are shared across a workspace and monthly credits do not roll over. Best for: teams who want a hosted AI teammate in their chat tools. Lindy says nothing irreversible happens without your approval.
Zapier Agents
What it is for: AI teammates built with Zapier Copilot that work across 9,000+ apps, on command and while you sleep, per Zapier. Pricing model: Zapier plans with task allowances. When checked, Free had 100 tasks a month and Professional started at $19.99 a month billed annually. Agents have their own activity limits, which Zapier's help center describes. Best for: people already using Zapier who want agents next to their Zaps.
n8n
What it is for: workflow automation in n8n Cloud or self-hosted, with AI steps available. Pricing model: per workflow execution. Cloud Starter was EUR 20 a month for 2.5K executions; the Community Edition is free to self-host. Best for: technical users who want control and self-hosting.
Relevance AI
What it is for: building AI agents and agent workforces. Its page lists unlimited agents and tools and 2,000+ integrations on Enterprise. Pricing model: the page we could read showed custom Enterprise pricing; check its pricing page for other plans. Best for: larger organizations building many agents.
Biilda
What it is for: a free desktop app for Windows and macOS. You describe what you want in chat, review a plan, and approve it; then Biilda builds AI employees, scheduled tasks and connectors. Pricing model: free download, USD credits (minimum $20, one credit equals one cent), no subscription, a spend cap you set. Best for: owners and solo operators who want the work built from a description and kept on their own machine. Trade-offs: scheduled tasks run while the app is open; quit it fully and nothing runs. It is not open source. Requests to the AI model go through Biilda's cloud, so the text being processed is sent for that call. It is built for one person or a small team on one machine, and we name Gmail and Slack as connectors on our site.
How to choose
- A teammate in Slack or iMessage: Lindy.
- Agents beside existing Zaps: Zapier Agents.
- Builder control or self-hosting: n8n.
- Big agent programmes with sales support: Relevance AI.
- A desktop app you talk to, paid by usage: Biilda.
Lindy versus Biilda, in practice
Where you work. Lindy meets you in Slack, iMessage and email. Biilda is its own desktop app with a chat, plus Slack if you connect it.
How you pay. Lindy charges per user per month, with credits that refresh monthly. Biilda charges for work done, from a balance you top up, and purchased credits never expire.
Approvals. Both ask before acting. In Biilda you also approve a plan before anything is built, and new tasks and employees start disabled.
Pricing compared plainly
Lindy's plans are per user and its pricing page says credits measure the work Lindy does, come from a shared workspace pool, and monthly credits do not roll over. Biilda has no plan or seats. You buy credits, set a cap, and unused credits from a purchase are refundable within 60 days. The two credit systems count different things, so test the same week of work on each before comparing.
What "local-first" changes
With Biilda, your files, history and connector tokens sit on your computer. A hosted service keeps its own copy of what it needs to do your work. Neither of them avoids cloud AI models; the difference is where your records and credentials live.
Using both
There is no reason to go all in on one. Some teams use a Slack-based teammate for shared requests and Biilda for scheduled work on one owner's machine, both pointed at the same Gmail and Slack.
A ten-minute way to decide
Start with where you want the work to run. A hosted teammate in Slack or iMessage suits shared, conversational work. A desktop app suits one owner's inbox, files and scheduled jobs. A builder such as n8n suits someone who wants to own the machinery.
Next, try the same job on two candidates. "Every morning, sort my inbox and draft replies to anything urgent" is a fair test. Compare the drafts, the approval steps and the cost. Biilda is free to download, so its trial costs a few credits at most, and you see the plan before anything is built.
Questions people ask before switching
Is Biilda a drop-in replacement for Lindy? No. They differ in where they run, how they charge and who they are built for. Lindy lists meeting notes, iMessage access and published compliance certifications that Biilda does not claim.
Do I need to be technical? Not for Biilda: you describe the job in chat and approve a plan. n8n is the most technical option on this list.
Can I try a tool without committing? Biilda is free to download and has no subscription. Check each vendor's pricing page for its current free options, since they change.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Lindy AI?
It depends on what you want changed. Zapier Agents is a hosted alternative with a huge app catalogue, n8n suits technical users and self-hosting, Relevance AI targets larger agent builds, and Biilda is a desktop app that builds AI employees from a chat message with pay-as-you-go credits.
Is there a free Lindy AI alternative?
Biilda is free to download, but the AI work is paid by credits you buy, with a $20 minimum top-up. n8n's Community Edition is free to self-host, and Zapier and Make both have free plans with small allowances. When we checked Lindy on 2026-10-05, its paid plans started at $29.99 per user per month, and it also listed a Free tier with $50 in credits for new users.
How does Biilda compare to Lindy?
Both let you set up an AI teammate without code. Lindy works in Slack, iMessage, email and a browser and charges per user per month with credits. Biilda runs as a Windows and macOS desktop app, with USD credits, a spend cap, and approval before anything is built or sent.
Is there a Lindy alternative that keeps my data on my computer?
Biilda stores your files, history and connector tokens on your computer. Its model requests go through Biilda's cloud to an AI provider, so the text being processed is sent for that call. Self-hosted n8n is another way to keep the stack in your own hands, at the cost of running it.
